THE AIRPORT LOUNGE

In the lounge
Out of the lounge
Waiting for a flight
Sitting tight

Sitting alone
Sitting together
Unknown faces
Busy by far

Looking at mobile
Staring at laptop
Barking instructions
Over the table top

Headphones on
Headphones off
Dying to hear
Desperate to talk

Surfing the net
Skimming the waves
The digital bytes
Sweeping the crest

Busybodies all
Humans second
Digitally programmed
Right to the end

  1. I write my appreciation of this poem by typing out on my mobile, after reading your poem on my mobile, while on a break from reading Pico Iyer on my Kindle app on my mobile, all happening as I recuperate from a fall that happened because I was riding my bicycle while looking at my mobile….the reason for reading Pico Iyer (a book on his experiences in Kyoto) is that I’ll soon be on a flight to Japan, during which I will have long layovers at the Singapore airport in both directions, which I will spend reading more of your poems on my mobile…:):) Good observations in your poem!
