নিজেকে খুঁজছি আমি
সর্বদা, সারাক্ষণ
আলোক আঁধারে, সীমানার পারে
অসীম নিখিলে, সৃষ্টির অবকাশে
পরমাণুর কেন্দ্রবিন্দুতে
রক্তকণিকার নিরন্তর প্রবাহে
জলপ্রপাতের স্বচ্ছ বারিধারায়
শিশিরের স্নিগ্ধ পদশব্দে
একটি শিশুর নির্মল দৃষ্টিতে
মনুষ্য জাতির হাসি, কান্নায়
তার আনন্দে, তার হাহাকারে
তার সব অন‍্যায় আবদারে

কিন্তু কি যেন আমাকে নিরন্তর তাড়া করে বেড়ায়
ফিরে ফিরে আসি নিজের হৃদয়ে
সেই একই প্রশ্ন নিয়ে
আমি কে, কে আমি
উত্তরের আশা আর রাখি না
সদা অন্বেষণের গতিতে ভেসে যাই

When the moon rises in the horizon
Spreading a golden reddish hue
The sea shimmering in the reflection
And the breeze on a fragrant cruise
When the leaves speak in hushed whispers
And the stars play hide and seek
My hands reach out and find yours
As we stand beside the creek
For the hands can communicate
When silence sits pretty on the lips
Each finger laden with feelings
Of sheer longing and bliss

The dew from the heavens
Gently caressed my dreams
And nudged me softly to the place
Where our eyes had met for the very first time
When we spoke without uttering a single word
Ever so silently
With trembling lips and throbbing hearts
Oblivious to the whole world
Connected only by the rainbow bridge
Emanating from our souls
As if nothing existed at that moment
Save you and me
As if the earth had become mute
Save the sublime tune playing in our ears
Humming the primordial song
Of the sun, the moon, and the stars
Which speak to each other every day
Through the eternal music of love
As it existed from the beginning of time

When my longing for you runs a riot
And chaos grips my mind
I need the shore of your calming presence
On the edge of my raging oceans
For the perfect union to take place
Allowing the turbulent strands in my mind
To softly skim the shore
Of your outstretched arms
Welcoming me into your zone
And calming the throbbing threads
Turning them into an elegant froth-line
Tiptoeing back and forth on the beach
Hearing the sweet melody of the shore
Gently serenading me into a rare state of sublimity
Where you and I merge into the oneness of space and time

To the very ends of this earth

Be born again
Only to come back
Time and again
And again
To the very same you

I whispered a few words
Almost on impulse
To unburden the load
Sitting heavy on my heart
And offered them to you
For you to mull over
Or maybe not
But my job is over
For those words have left me
Never to cause any grief or joy
Now it is really up to you
Should you take a moment
To relook and rethink, and
Allow those words to foment
Inducing you to give a sweet reply
Or maybe just a nod of the head
Or to just cast aside
And move on

একা একা পথ চলতে ভালই লাগে
কত লোক, তাড়াহুড়ো, ছোটাছুটি
সবাই যেন রেসের ঘোড়া
সবাই কে পৌঁছতে হবে সব্বার আগে
আটকে গেলেই মেজাজ খারাপ, গালাগালি
ঠেকাঠেকি, ঠেলাঠেলি, গুঁতোগুঁতি
কখনও বা হাতাহাতি
এসব দেখতে ভালই লাগে

চৌরাস্তার মোড় সন্ধ্যার গোলাপি আভায়
হয়ে ওঠে প্রেমিক প্রেমিকাদের মিলন ক্ষেত্র
ফিসফিস, কানে কানে কত কিছু
বা কখনও শুধু মনে মনে
হয় প্রেম নিবেদন, মিষ্টি মধুর কথপোকথন
আমি শুনতে পাই না
কিন্ত দেখতে আমার ভালই লাগে

মনে হয় এসবের মধ‍্যে আমিও একদিন ছিলাম
তখন ছিল বহু ব‍্যস্ততার দিন
অবসরের প্রবল অভাব
কিন্ত অবসরপ্রাপ্ত জীবনে এখন
অবসরের আর অভাব নেই
রাস্তার দৃশ্য গুলো দেখে মনে হয়
মানুষ নতুন উদ্দীপনায় বাঁচতে চাইছে
তাদের হৃদস্পন্দন আমাকে স্পর্শ করে যায়
তাই রাস্তায় একা একা হাঁটতে হাঁটতে
এসব দেখতে ভালই লাগে

চলতে চলতে দেখা হলে
সেই পুরোনো প্রশ্ন ভেসে আসে কানে
‘কেমন আছেন? ভালো আছেন তো?’
অভ‍্যাসের বশে একটাই উত্তর বেরোয় মুখ থেকে
‘এই চলে যাচ্ছে, আর কি’

কিন্তু সত‍্যি কি চলে যাচ্ছে আমার জীবন
না কি আঁকা বাঁকা পথে চলছে
একটু ঘুরপাকে, একটু পাস কাটিয়ে
কিছুটা মিথ‍্যে বলে, কিছুটা নিয়ম ভেঙ্গে
কিছুটা লড়াই করে, কিছুটা গা বাঁচিয়ে
কিছুটা সন্ধি করে
অনেকটাই, আপোস করে

মাসের প্রথমে টাকার গরমে গা ভাসিয়ে
মাসের শেষে খুচরো গুলো আঁকড়ে ধরে
কোনো কোনোদিন অভিমানের বোঝা বয়ে
আবার কোনোদিন উৎফুল্লতার আভাস নিয়ে
যুদ্ধ করে জীবন যাত্রা চালিয়ে নিয়ে
যুদ্ধের শেষে আশার আলো দেখব বলে
অনেকটাই, শুধু বাঁচব বলে

কিন্তু এতগুলো কথা বোঝাই কি করে?
বাজারের থলে নিয়ে, পথ চলতে চলতে?
তাই এক কথায় কাজ সারি
এই চলে যাচ্ছে, আর কি

কথা তো হয়েছে কতই
কিন্তু দেখা যে হয়নি কখনও
মনে হয়েছে অনেকবার
গিয়ে দেখা করি
কিন্ত যাওয়া হয়ে ওঠেনি

দেখা হলে কি বলবো
পরস্পরের পাসে বসে কি কথা হবে
তাও নিজের মনে আওড়েছি কতবার
কিন্ত যাওয়া হয়ে ওঠেনি

অনেকবার মনে মনে ভেবেছি
যে পথ চলতে চলতে কোনদিন
হয়ত হঠাৎ দেখা হয়ে যাবে
কিন্তু তাও হয়নি

কেন এরকমটা হলো, জানি না
তুমি কি শুধুই কল্পনা
জানি না
আমার একাকীত্বের চিরসাথী
তুমি কি শুধুই আমার মনের ভ্রম

কিছুই আর জানি না
শুধু এটুকুই জানি
যে যাওয়া হয়ে ওঠেনি

Coming back is not easy
Has never been easy
Whether to a place of your childhood cradling a tumultuous past
Or even an aching thought for a long lost loved one
Cause memories stand frozen in the sands of time
While the world keeps moving at its own pace
To a point where the reality does not match
With the bits and pieces of the jigsaw puzzle
Continuously playing hide and seek in your head
Cause memories are your very own – cherished and treasured
Swimming in waves of surrealistic fervour
While realism ebbs and flows with the tides of time
