Sattva* holds my head aloft
While Rajas* tickles my ego
Tamas* lurks round the corner
In full play of Prakriti* on the go

Which one do I choose
To further my cause
Which ones do I discard
Without further pause

Depending on my choice
At each moment in eternity
The karmic cycle plays over
And over again in its entirety

Each time I choose
I cause ripples which traverse
Causing minor alterations
Through the extent of this universe

Which affect me subsequently
At each step of my journey
Cause and effect, the guiding principle
In this unending tourney

Thus the karmic cycle
Gets generated and propagated
Thus it traverses births and deaths
Till I am finally liberated

*As per Sankhya philosophy, Prakriti is the unmanifested cosmic energy out of which emanates the three gunas or tendencies which govern human nature. Tamas represents darkness signifying caliginous deeds, while Rajas emanates out of one’s ego and Sattva is pristine and pure, guided by the highest and the noblest motivations.
